Karaoke at Dreambox, Melaka

Trying to fill up a dull weekend in Melaka, we joined some friends for a karaoke session at a new joint. For them, it's the opportunity to croon the latest tunes...

For me, food galore! It's a buffet dinner..... gosh, I'm such a glutton!

One thing's certain, my meal is rather well balanced. The dishes above were all we had, not mine alone. I enjoyed the vege dish, the egg and the fried noodles. One thing I didn't manage to snap, the longan dessert. Double helpings (plus the fact they don't provide free flow drinks).

I seemed more like in prayer than singing...

Making a roast of beef

I had a sudden urge to cook something today, and went shopping at the local hypermart, followed by Cold Storage..

Dad wanted to try this soup and we did.

The slab of beef that I marinated.

Master chef at work

Looking good...

The finished product..

Voila!

Baked mashed potato

Fresh steamed broccoli

Mashed potato - the original

Unfortunately.... Alas...

The meat was more medium medium rare

Recooking the meat

And finally, the real medium rare product. It tasted succulent, juicy and really good..

Chicken Chop @ Treats Cafe, Kota Kemuning

The interior of Treats. Quite cosy, though a little bright...

The dish of Chicken Chop. I find the mushroom sauce a tad sweet for me, and the mashed potato hard and dry. Worst, it cost me RM21 for that dish plus a hot cup of peppermint tea.
Tsk.. tsk...

Shabu Shabu @ Puchong

Tried this nifty food place in Bandar Puteri, Puchong. Each of us were given an individual hot pot, and my broth ended up with a strange taste of shrimps, beef and corn.

East Ocean Restaurant, Menglembu

Final stop of the whirlwind food trip.

Fried garoupa in black pepper sauce.

Fried prawns, and stir fried with cashew nuts

Supper at Mushroom Hut, Ipoh Garden

The location's a direct translation for a place commonly known as "Tung Ku Theng" in Ipoh Garden. It's a hawker area, with some interesting stuffs.

Deep fried mantis prawn

Rasa Lain Restaurant, Bercham

The name itself is an oddity, much less the food.

Fish balls made of "ikan parang". No idea what its called in English.

Rice broth with garoupa fish. Really sweet stuff.

Pork ribs, in a unique sauce that's a little like Lea & Perrins.

Glass noodle with king prawns. The broth comes out really sweet with the tangy aftertaste of prawns.

Hot steamed bun for tea @ Menglembu

It's not healthy, but darn irresistable. This little coffee shop in Menglembe is known for it's steamed bun. Especially the large ones.

A little extra to flavour the tea... :D

Vegetarian galore @ Menglembu

Of late I seemed to had acquired a taste for vegetarian food. Probably it's a result of the shocking test I took at the fitness centre. I was classified as obese! Oh well, it's on to another food discovery then...
