Happy Birthday Lindy

Another year older, another year wiser...

Happy Birthday, darling!

And to pass the time....

Passing time in the wee hours of the morning whilst doing nothing is tough job. Add the fact that there's no WiFi, no Astro, and practically no practical entertainment of any sorts....

To the cards we go.

And since we're not into monetary gambling (forbid!), we made do with the largest supply of gamble-able stuff available...

Getting bad. There's so much water sloshing in the tummy we couldn't go on.

Gosh, this may likely end my as my funeral if we went on....

Midnight vigil....

Customary to the Chinese, family members take turns to watch over Grandma's body thru out the night. Whilst there're options to place her at designated places meant for these purposes, we elected to do it at home.
And so there's Grandma, sleeping peacefully behind the elaborately decorated facade....

And the supper, supplied by the caretakers (I forgot what they're called)

And me, all puffy eyed and fuzzy brained after 48 hours of interrupted rests...

Grandma's funeral

Grandma passed away, at the age of 84. She had had a good life, long and fruitful. Grandma went thru a period of Alzheimer's, plus brittle bones to boot. She's not great on mobility, but she's fighter none the less.

In a way, I am happy for her. She went away in her sleep, peaceful and contented. It was unfortunate that none of us were by her bedside this night.

I last saw her back in April, when we celebrated her birthday. She had her sons, her grand children, and even great grand children with her. Though we couldn't really know what was in her mind, but I had no doubt that she knew we were there, and she was happy.

Rest in peace, and a blessed journey ahead.
