CNY dinner - the spread

Our modest reunion dinner, mostly home cooked minus some that's bought cooked.

Yee Sang, a must have during CNY as it signifies much good and prosperous things

My pride, the Four Season dish of stuffed yutiao, quail eggs wrapped in fish and shrimp paste, fried wanton and steamed seaweed dimsum

Salted vegetable - this was bought from PJ States Duck Rice

Dried curry chicken - mum made this

Dad's specialty, Braised sea cucumber, chinese mushroom and pork ribs

Mum's specialty, Chinese lettuce and pork stomach soup cooked with black pepper

Braised Duck - this was bought from PJ States Duck Rice

The chefs at work. I had the Four Seasons dish, and Jo had the 100 Years Union dish.

CNY dinner - the ingredients

Braised sea cucumber, pork ribs and mushrooms (for grandma who's without teeth)

Braised duck (this is cold, to be drenched with the heated sauce)

Stuffed fried yutiao, amongst others

Stir fried vegetables, known in Cantonese as "pak lin hou hap"

A mixture of macadamia nuts, lotus roots, chickpeas, holland beans, baby maize, carrots and bulbs

Surprise Birthday gathering for Poh Chin

"Are you there yet?"
"How long before you arrived?"
"Make sure you're all seated at the table before we enter."

And so we rushed. Got to the hotel, parked the car, got ourselves seated.

"Oops, I left the camera in the car. I'm going to run back and get it. Will be right back."

I ran. And bumped into May Chean at the car park.

"Hurry, they're almost here."

Got into the lobby. Met DeDe.

"Uh oh, they've arrived. How're we going to get in without them noticing us?"

Terence saw me. I got behind a pillar. Called Terence on the mobile.

"Lead her away for us to run in."
"Ok ok..."

Terence led her out, on the pretext of disposing a trash. And we got in.
